A New Life

Jesus’ Resurrection is not only about going to heaven when you die. The power of Jesus’ Resurrection in believers is also the strength for each new day. When someone is baptized, we often hear the words, “buried with Christ, raised with Christ, to walk in newness of life.” Are you pursuing that newness of life – the resurrection life? If you are, here are some things you’ll find:
1 – Resurrection Peace – And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, with guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7). This peace with God is found through Jesus Christ – and is maintained by walking daily with the One who is the Prince of Peace.
2 – Resurrection Joy – “I have told you these things so that My joy may be in you and your joy may be complete.” (John 15:11) The joy of the Lord is your strength. (Nehemiah 8:10) Before He died, Jesus told His followers He wanted them to have the same joy He had. And we need to know that He doesn’t just give it – He IS our joy!
3 – Resurrection Power – I pray that your heart may be enlightened so that you may know… what is the immeasurable greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the mighty working of His strength. (Ephesians 1:18-19) This power is available to us as believers – as we actively pursue that resurrection life.
4 – Resurrection Confidence – What shall we say to all these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31) Our confidence in this life is not because we will avoid misfortunes, but our confidence is in God’s love for us in the midst of them. A pastor once said, “God is too good to be unkind and He is too wise to be mistaken. And when we cannot trace His hand, we must trust His heart.” That’s resurrection confidence!
5 – Resurrection Hope – Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. (1 Peter 1:3) Henry Blackaby has said, “Hope in God has no doubt: it is reality waiting to be experienced.” Someday we who believe will be living in the very presence of God and enjoying Him forever – that’s our hope – that’s our reality.
Just as Jesus had to die before He was resurrected, we too must die – die to our selfish nature – before we can walk in this newness of life.
Resurrection changes everything – and that includes YOU! Are you pursuing the resurrection life? If not, this would be a great time to start.
