Living By the Spirit

If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. (Galatians 5:25)
How do we keep in step with the Spirit? It starts with spending time getting to know who the Holy Spirit is -- His distinctive voice, His personality and His passion for people. Just as you get to know a new friend, you can get to know the Holy Spirit. And, just like with a new friend, the best way to learn about Him is one-on-one.
It’s easy to fall into the habit of racing for that lifeline right before a test, a decision that needs to be made, or a stressful situation. And, while He’s ready to aid in that time, He thrives when we listen in the moment.
But it’s in the secret place that we learn what His voice and leading sounds and feels like so that we can discern His guidance out in the rush and stress of the world. It’s in the secret place that we grow in relationship with the Holy Spirit so that we can follow His steps throughout the peaks and valleys of our day.
“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.” (John 16:13)
The Holy Spirit is excited to speak to you what He hears from the heavenly Father. He longs to share with you God’s plans to love you, provide for you, heal you, transform you, and deliver you. He longs to lead you to the fullness of life available to you here. Spend time getting to know the Holy Spirit in the secret place today. As you pray ask God to reveal Himself. Spend time in prayer resting in the presence of the God who dwells within you, who is nearer to you than the very ground beneath your feet.
His power is mighty, and He is bigger than anything you are going through today. The power you house by being filed with the Spirit should influence every choice you make and empower every step of your day! Y’all – how big is that!
Lord, we long to know the Holy Spirit better, deeper, and stronger. We want to develop that relationship and all it holds. Thank You for giving us everything we need to embrace it. We can’t wait to see what You have to share with us through Him. Amen
