Y’all, gather ‘round… got a little story for ya…

We were at the Tates Creek Campus, and the service began. While standing 6’ apart, we joined in worship with a collective chorus of three songs; and after a prayer, we were instructed to take a seat. From a few rows back, you hear a precious little voice exclaim, “UGH! FINALLY!”

From behind cotton masks you could hear a smattering of giggles and a sweet mom die a little on the inside. For better or for worse, I can’t remember the sermon that day or what else transpired during the service. All I could think about was how often we do the exact same thing.

The microwave beeps that our soup is hot; and while we’ve had to wait a full two minutes, we exclaim… FINALLY!

We wait 4.5 minutes for the red light to change to green and shout... FINALLY!

You walk to the car, rip off that mask, and sigh… FINALLY!

God answers a prayer request, and our first response… FINALLY!

We’ve all done it. In a world of instant gratification, our patience level is worn thin. We have all been that sweet child just putting voice to what was on her heart. We can quickly embrace God’s love, but His timing? A little harder to grab a hold of.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made know to God. (Philippians 4:6)

So, FINALLY… take a minute to remember… Jesus felt the same.

You gave your life to Him… He exclaimed, FINALLY!

When you kneel in prayer after worrying about it for far too long… He exclaims, FINALLY!

You answer His call… He celebrates with fists in the air, FINALLY!

Lord, we are thankful trials produce patience. We ask You to build our patience muscle so we can be as strong as we can be. FINALLY, know we love You and are thankful each and every moment You spend loving on us. Amen.
