112 Years

112 years. Wow, that’s a really long time when you think about it!

In the past 112 years, our world has seen a lot happen - both world wars, the Great Depression, the first man in space, and unimaginable advancements in technology. Our country has had a plethora of leaders, suffered incredible tragedies, and won some major victories. To sum it all up, the past 112 years could be characterized by A LOT OF CHANGE.

But one thing that hasn’t changed, one thing that has remained the same through it all, is God’s faithfulness. And, specifically, God’s faithfulness to our church. Wow. 112 years of Him using this body to reach the city of Lexington. We’ve had our own set of changes - different locations, remodels - and then remodels again. Different staff and different members. But, the One who has remained the same through it all is Jesus. He has been there all along, steadily holding us up, providing financially for the mission and giving us opportunities to open our doors and hearts wide open to whatever He calls us to do. Praise the Lord for His faithfulness!

So, as we look back and celebrate all God has done; and, as we look forward in great anticipation for all He will do in the next 112 years, I pray you will echo these words in your heart right along with me and the Psalmist:

“Great are the works of the Lord;
They are pondered by all who delight in them.
Glorious and majestic are His deeds,
And His righteousness endures forever.
He has caused His wonders to be remembered;
The Lord is gracious and compassionate…
The works of His hands are faithful and just;
All His precepts are trustworthy….
Holy and awesome is His name.” (Psalm 111:2-4, 7, 9b)
