Nothing New Under The Sun

Everyone says that 2020 is a unique time to live but I tell you biblically,

“What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” (Ecclesiastes 1:9)

It’s a relief to know there isn’t anything new, because it means God with his eternal perspective is uniquely equipped to guide us through the challenges of this life. People all over the world are sick, depressed, angry, scared and alone. What do you do when you see things happening in your life that you’ve never seen before? What do you do when what you know about this life is turned upside-down? Where do you go for answers?

The world is full of answers. You can search for them on Google. You can be told unapologetically how the world turns, who is right or wrong by the media. Out in the world morals aren’t defined by God but by people. Sometimes, your ears can hurt from all of the contradicting opinions. How do you make decisions about your day or your life when life has gone a little… crazy?

What if I told you that there isn’t a single opinion that matters in the events of your life but the opinion of the One and only true God? That in every single choice you make the best decision is to move in the direction of God. It doesn’t matter one iota what the world says, what the world does or how the world feels.

It only matters what is in your heart, that you seek your answers from God (who loves you) and how that love translates into real everyday life. You won’t ever regret a moment spent talking to God. Sharing with Him your concerns. Seeking Him out to help you do good for others. God will always respond to those who love Him with their whole heart. We have nothing to fear.

Whose opinion have you been listening to in 2020? What will be different in your life as we move toward 2021? Join me in seeking the opinion of the only One whose opinion matters!

“The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God.” (Psalm 14:2)

“I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.” (Proverbs 8:17)

“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6)
