Love One Another

“Let love be without hypocrisy. Detest evil; cling to what is good. Love one another deeply as brothers and sisters. Take the lead in honoring one another.” (Romans 12:9-10 CSB)

These can be difficult times to love, can't they? In the midst of a pandemic and an election, it can be difficult to love or even feel loved. How powerful these words are from the Apostle Paul!

Sometimes we truly struggle to love, don’t we? Yet, here we read that we are to love without hypocrisy. We are called to have a genuine love and detest evil. It can’t go without being stated that the enemy's desire is for evil to creep into and corrupt our lives. However, in the midst of those temptations we are encouraged to cling to good, NOT evil. This is not always easy, is it? As we read this truth we must know that it is only possible to love others when we cling to how God loves us in Christ Jesus.

God loves you, friend! No matter what trial you may be walking through, no matter what hardship is coming your way, no matter if you are experiencing good times or bad, God loves you. It's a personal and an intimate love. My prayer for us is that we might cling to His love and heed the words of the Apostle Paul and truly show this world a gospel love. A love without hypocrisy. A love that detests evil and clings to good.

May the God of peace fill your heart with this truth, and may we go into our communities and demonstrate this radical love. As Jesus said, “I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35 CSB)
