Let Your Light Shine

Go into a dark room and take some type of light with you -- a flashlight or your cell phone. No matter how dark the space is, when you turn on the light it will be seen. Light always overcomes the darkness. The darkness will not overcome the light. As Christians, we are called to be the light of the world. These are dark times, and the people around us desperately need us to shine the light of Jesus Christ in their lives.

One of the ways we can shine our light is through our good works. When we do that, God takes our good works and uses them in a way that honors Him and points people to Jesus. We must never lose sight of the fact that we are constantly being watched by those around us. Which presents us with a unique opportunity to help those who don't know Jesus to be able to see Him through our good deeds. Our good deeds aren’t motivated out of our trying to be loved by God, but instead they are an overflow of the love we have already received from God.

God loves you and has a plan for your life. Part of that plan is to shine your light by sharing the love of God with those you come in contact with. God loves you so much that His love is meant to overflow from you and touch others. The Bible says it this way:

"In the same way, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)

“For we are His creation, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time so that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10)

God wants you to let your light shine today. Be intentional. Ask God to help you notice and be sensitive to the people around you. As you let your light shine, identify one kind thing you could do to serve others, and do it.
